I went on a long hike this week in the ‘Santa Lucia Range,’ about 25 miles South of Big Sur on Hwy 1. I saw this beautiful little Ring Necked Snake getting some sun. S/he had olive coloring on top and a deep coral belly and neck stripe. It was only about a foot long! :) <3 I love snakes, esp ones that are tiny!! <3

Another wonderful thing about Catalina Island is that about 88% of the Island was donated to the Catalina Island Conservancy. These are photos I took while hiking around the ‘airport in the sky’ near the top of the Island. I got more photos on a camera (these are from my phone) - even one of Bison! I’ll see when I can load those if I ever get to it! :) There are many great camping and hiking areas here for the nature lover in all of us. (OK, most of us.)

These pictures are from yesterday - I went to see my little sister Mariah Heller dance and sing in FLASH: A New Choreography by Qudus Onikeku! It was an amazing SHOW! The mixture of contemporary music and different horrifying stories of human history was beautiful. I was so impressed with Mariah and all of the other performers in this wonderful piece by Mr. Onikeku. Thank You all for the great work you did, hardly a dry eye in the audience! :)

WoW! I was cleaning one of my old book collections and happened upon this old ticket in the book English Poetry and Prose of the Romantic Movement. The book is signed Sylvan L. Rembold. I looked up Mr. Rembold, who was born in 1908 / died 2001, and it seems he did make his way over to Salinas, CA at some point. I bought the book in 2006 from an antique book dealer. The ticket was in between pages 1206-1207 and is from Chicago Surface Lines. :) Here are pics of it. — Even more, I found out Mr. Rembold wrote a book for Northwestern University called Burns’s Relations with His Printers and Publishers.
